Bicheno is one of Tasmania’s most popular and important holiday resorts combining the mild east coast climate, sparkling ocean beaches, coastal scenery, a good range of accommodation options and a number of interesting visitor attractions and craft galleries.

Its long and colourful history dates back to well before the days when leisure became the principal industry. About the year 1803, sealers and whalers used Waubs Boat Harbour, as Bicheno was then known, as a shelter for their boats. The town is an important fishing centre, being home port for many crayfishing and abalone boats.
